Kathmandu: Sudan Gurung, a lawmaker from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), is set to be reappointed as Nepal’s Home Minister.
Prime Minister Balendra Shah is preparing to appoint Gurung to the post today, according to sources. Gurung is also expected to take the oath of office later today.
Gurung had resigned from the position on Baisakh 9 following widespread questions and criticism regarding a controversy related to his assets and property holdings.
The government had subsequently formed an investigation committee to examine the public concerns and allegations raised during and after his tenure as Home Minister. After the committee reportedly found no evidence of wrongdoing, Gurung is returning to lead the Ministry of Home Affairs.
