Kathmandu – U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday accused Iran of delaying negotiations aimed at resolving the Middle East conflict, saying the country would now “have to pay the price.” In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump claimed Iran’s military had been “completely defeated” and described the country as the “bully of the Middle East.”
His remarks came amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, despite a ceasefire that took effect in April. The comments contrasted with Trump’s statement a day earlier that talks on a lasting settlement were in their final stages and could conclude within days.
The latest escalation followed U.S. strikes on Iranian targets in response to the downing of an American helicopter. Iran later said it had launched attacks on U.S. bases in Jordan and Bahrain.
