New Delhi – A stampede broke out during the celebration of the local cricket team’s (IPL) victory in Bengaluru on Wednesday, as a massive crowd gathered to mark the occasion. According to Indian media reports, at least 11 people lost their lives in this tragic incident.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar stated that the exact number of fatalities could not be confirmed immediately and urged everyone to remain calm and patient. He paid tribute to the deceased and extended his deepest condolences to the grieving families.
Millions of people had gathered at the event site, and the police made significant efforts to control the situation. Some individuals reportedly fainted due to the overwhelming crowd, and the injured are currently receiving treatment in hospitals.
Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar has appealed to everyone to stay peaceful and cooperate with the authorities.
